The safety pack

Mountains are wonderful adventure playgrounds but you need to take certain precautions when exploring them:
The minimum emergency pack should include an avalanche transceiver (avalanche beacon) + probe + shovel. However, do not be lulled into a false sense of security as these 3 products cannot provide total protection.

AVD EVO4 V2

Avalanche Transceiver:
It allows you to find a buried skier or walker with an AVD in transmit mode.
You can be found by someone who is using their avalanche transceiver in search mode.

The shovel

It generally takes longer to dig out the victim than to find them.

The probe

It is used to locate the victim and gauge the depth of snow under which they are buried.

Warning

Wear your avalanche transceiver close to your body so that it doesn’t get ripped off.
Check that it is working properly before each outing.
Practise regularly.
